Public consultation - Early Help and Children's Centres

Report seeking approval to consult with the public and partner agencies on proposals to reduce the funding within Early Help and Children's Centres.

Decision type: Non-key

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Divisions affected: (All Divisions);

Notice of proposed decision first published: 18/01/2024

This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
In order to achieve the required savings to support the setting of a balanced budget within Derbyshire, the decision was taken to bring forward the public consultation on the reduced funding available for Early Help and Children's Centres. Due to the urgent need to move forward any cost saving proposals once the consultation has concluded, it would be preferable to have this permission to consult approved by Cabinet on the 1 February. Delay will be incurred by following the usual process of publishing this key decision on the forward plan, which given the urgency of achieving cost savings would not be desirable.

Improvement and Scrutiny Committee: People;

Decision due: 1 Feb 2024 by Cabinet

Lead member: Cabinet Member for Children and Families

Lead director: Executive Director - Children's Services

Department: Children's Services
