The purpose of
this report is to provide an update for the Cabinet Member for
Corporate Services on five former youth centre
premises. The Cabinet Member is asked
to:
a) Note the report;
b) Agree the timeframes for the proposed outcomes for each asset as
detailed in the recommendations below.
a) Notes the position with each of the five
youth centre premises.
b) Agrees the timescales identified in the report as follows:
i. Eckington Youth and Community Centre – the asset plan to
be finalised and signed off and the asset be declared surplus to
the Council’s requirements by the end of November 2021 so
that the asset can then be sold during the current financial
year;
ii. Killamarsh Youth Centre – Children’s Services to
clear the asset of furniture and equipment by the end of March
2022;
iii. New Mills Youth and Community Centre – a decision on
whether the asset is to be repurposed by Children’s Services
to be made during October 2021;
iv. Pinxton Youth Centre – the demolition of the link
building and separation of services completed before the end of the
current calendar year and the asset to be sold at auction before
the end of the current financial year.
v. Somercotes Youth Centre – the lease of the site to the
adjacent academy to be completed during the current financial year
(subject to co-operation by the proposed tenant).
10.1 To ensure the outcomes for each asset are
achieved in timely manner.
As part of the asset plan process, all the
options for each of the five youth centre premises will be
considered prior to a final recommendation regarding the outcome
for each asset being presented for approval to either the Director
of Property (under his delegated powers) or the Cabinet Member for
Corporate Services.
