After college I trained as a State Registered Nurse and worked across the UK in the NHS and Local Government.
I have been a Councillor for 25 years, previously representing the people of Wirksworth and surrounding villages on the Town Council, Derbyshire Dales District Council and currently 3 terms for Derbyshire County Council.
Reasons for becoming a Councillor
At college I studied Local Government and provision of services and the infrastructure provided by this. I always appreciated the value of Public Health and Provision of Services in both my work and family life, things which are often taken for granted. This led to me becoming an active member of the Labour Party and when asked to stand as a Councillor in Wirksworth I accepted.
