Councillor Gary Musson

Personal information

When I am not fulfilling my Councillor duties, my ‘other job’ is running a health and safety consultancy business. I am a Chartered Safety Practitioner and have had my own business for the past 10 years. I come from a construction background and find that a lot of my experience is useful in my role as a Councillor.

My main hobby throughout my life has been the practice of Karate, beginning in 1982 and not yet retiring fully. I currently hold the rank of 6^th Dan Black Belt. I have a large family with 5 children and 10 grandchildren, but in all honestly I have not spent as much time with them over the years as I would like. The older I get, the more important family gets. My wife Angie and I enjoy the same things, and when possible we like to travel, mostly in the UK. We also like to indulge in good food.

Reasons for becoming a Councillor

Being a Councillor was never really a consideration for me. I have always been involved in the community, and when I was approached to ask if I wanted to stand, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do more for the community that has been so good to me. I am not particularly political, and see the post as a job that needs to be done well. I am still learning, but hope that I have made some positive changes for the people I serve.
