Councillor Martyn Ford

Personal Information

I have worked in the Aerospace Industry for many years after serving my apprenticeship in motor trade. I was educated at John Port School, Etwall and Derby Technical College. I enjoy clay pigeon shooting when I get time. I also enjoy walking my dog and spending time with family and friends.

I am presently Chairman of Regulatory – Planning Committee at Derbyshire County Council. I am an elected member and Leader on South Derbyshire District, representing Willington & Findern.

Reasons for becoming a Councillor

I started my political career as a member of Findern Parish Council as I have lived in the village most of my life. Following on from this, I was elected onto South Derbyshire District Council in 2003. My election to Derbyshire County Council was in 2005 and I have been immensely privileged to sit on both authorities since those times. Derbyshire is a very beautiful County with amazing opportunities for all and I want to see us grow further to help all communities enjoy that in success.
