Decision details

Use of Contain Outbreak Management Fund to strengthen emergency energy support in Derbyshire

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Health and Communities

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Approve use of funding

Decision:

That the Cabinet Member for Health and Communities

Approves the use of Contain Outbreak Management Funding to strengthen emergency energy support within Derbyshire until 31 March 2023 via a grant of £0.100m to Marches Energy Advice.

Reasons for the decision:

Offer longer term capacity to provide emergency energy support that will enable people in Derbyshire to have the confidence or resources to self-isolate effectively.

Alternative options considered:

Do nothing: Risk that demand will outstrip resources, once existing funding runs out, or that staff will leave the organisation as contracts come to an end.

Consider strengthening other providers: Providing funding to other non-specialist providers via a different procurement route carries the risk that individuals living in complex situations who require expert advice and support may not be managed by sufficiently experienced providers.
