Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Health and Communities

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Seeking Cabinet Member approval for the publication of the Councils Modern Slavery Transparency Statement 2021-22. This statement reports on the work that the Council is doing to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within its supply chains.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Health and Communities approves the Council’s Modern Slavery Statement for 2021-22 as set out in the report.

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure the Council is compliant with the Home Office request to publish its Modern Slavery Transparency Statement for the previous financial year 2021-22.

Alternative options considered:

Alternative Option 1 - The Council could decide not to publish its Modern Slavery Statement 2021-22. However, the Home Office is encouraging all Public Bodies in England and Wales with a budget of £36m or more to proactively publish their Modern Slavery Statement.  The Home Office have suggested that they will be seeking to make this requirement mandatory over the coming months.
