Non-Contestable Distribution Network Operator Work in National Grid Electricity Distribution Network Area

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Highways, Assets and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To seek the Cabinet Member?s approval to increase the Commercial Pipeline advertised value of a Protocol 8 Sole Supplier Business Case from ?0.110m to ?0.250m.

Decision:

That the Cabinet Member approves the increase the Commercial Pipeline advertised value of a Protocol 8 Sole Supplier Business Case from £0.110m to £0.250m.

Reasons for the decision:

By increasing the advertised value to £0.250m it allows the Street Lighting and Traffic Signals team to maintain a safe and reliable Highway network for the residents and visitors to Derbyshire.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1: Do nothing - If the Council was to do nothing, in the event of an RTC, it would not be able to make an electrical asset electrically safe. Another example would be the connection or transfer of electricity service on a cable type that is non-contestable, in this case the highway electrical asset would not become operational.

Option 2: Do something different - The initial Protocol 8 Business Case could be approved with the advertised value of £0.110m which may or may not be reached. In the event that the value is reached, a Protocol 10 Business Case would be needed to increase the value.
